ACH

GLC, Inc. can assist you, the importer of record, in setting up an account to pay duties directly to US Customs from your own bank account and on a monthly statement. Alternatively, you may choose to have GLC, Inc. pay the duties on your behalf and will be charged a disbursement fee of 3.5% of the total amount of duties due to US Customs with a minimum of $25.00.  If you would like to get either or both programs set up, we can assist you with the process for a flat fee of $150.00.

US CUSTOMS ACH DEBIT ACCOUNT

Once you have a US Customs ACH Debit Account set up it will process automatic duty payments directly from your bank account to US Customs. GLC, Inc. processes the US Customs Statement on the 7th working day following the release of your shipment to ensure the payment is received timely by US Customs. For every entry we process with US Customs on your behalf, you will receive an Entry Summary (CBP Form 7501) once the entry has been processed – this shows the amount owed on the entry. At this time, you can audit your entry to ensure that all the information is accurate and that the payment will be submitted properly.

For a company to be set up on its own ACH with Customs the financial institution must be a U.S. bank NACHA participant with Electronic Data Interchange capability. Importer payers must also have a federal identification number (tax ID number/ Customs Assigned Number/social security number).

We can also set you up on the Periodic Monthly Statements (PMS) which will consolidate your daily statements for a monthly payment due on the 15th working day of the following month.

Many importers don’t want to pay duties for every single shipment. Instead, they’d like to pay US Customs just once per month. That’s where the next, duty payment process comes in! Once you have your ACH Account set up, we suggest taking advantage of the PMS program. All shipments that are cleared in the prior month will be paid from your bank account directly to US Customs on the 15th working day of the following month – without interest.

Benefits of using ACH Account and PMS together:

  • Pay duties/fees directly from your account to US Customs – with Periodic Monthly Statement set up it would extend the due date from 10 days to the following month.
  • Reduce administrative processing – the duty disbursement fee of 3.5% would be replaced by the Statement Management fee of $25.00/entry.
  • Control cash flow by identifying the exact day to allocate funds.
