Customs Q&A of the Month: What is the Government Confidentiality Request Portal?
with Licensed Customs Broker, Jessica Parks

Did you know that information and data appearing on outward and inward manifests can be disclosed to interested members of the public?

Information that is currently available to the public:
• Consignee´s Name and Address
• Shipper´s Name and Address
• Notify Party Name and Address
• Description of Goods
• Bill of Lading Number
Because of the Freedom of Information act (FOIA), the public has access to nearly all information and records maintained or developed by the U.S. Federal Agencies, including the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). CBP is required to make available all manifest or import data to anyone that requests it. However, U.S. companies are able to request manifest confidentiality to keep their information private.

To keep your Import and Export manifest information confidential, we can submit a Government Confidentiality request to US Customs on your behalf.

If you are interested in this service, you can reach out to our Customs Brokerage Team ([email protected]) or submit your request on our website, below.
