Warehousing and Ground Transportation Sectors See Employment Gains

The Warehousing and Ground Transportation Sectors see Significant Employment Gains

According to the most recent report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the warehousing/storage, and trucking industries have seen an increase of more than 20,000 job positions during the period of July 1st – Sept. 1st.

This increase is the largest since the end of 2020, when the Warehouse industry bounced back from an unprecedented loss of 106,100 jobs in April 2020 when the pandemic first peaked.

As a matter of fact, between June and August, the category of warehousing gained 55,200 jobs. Putting the number of new employment at 48,500 more than in December 2020.

In addition, the category of courier drivers gained 20,000 job positions, and the trucking sector also showed big employment gains. That industry added 5,400 jobs for a total of 1,498,500 jobs. Although trending in the right direction, the total amount is still lower than the numbers in March of 2020, just before the pandemic.

In conclusion, while the logistic sector continues to be unprecedentedly volatile, the job market is opening back up in a big way for warehousing and ground transportation. Finally, after months of low advance, we can see good hiring gains throughout the industry.
